Marking Scheme
IBC Office of the Academic Affairs understands that it is very important to have uniformity and equality in our marking scheme to avoid discrepancy in grading our students’ performance in the examination. Hence, the following guideline is introduced. It is necessary that all academic staff adhere to this to ensure uniformity and equality in the marking system.

Read carefully the entire answer given to a question.

Examine the relevance of the answer to the question

Estimate the answer objectively without any bias

Ensure whether the answer covers all the important aspects or areas expectant from the correct and comprehensive answer.

Pay attention to the clarity and the non-ambiguity of the answer

Examine the ability of the student in the presentation shown in the answer.

The theoretical perspective from which the problem or question is approached should be made explicit.

Allocate the marks taking aforesaid criteria into account.

Avoid decimal points in marking e.g. for a total score of 14.4 or with lesser decimals, round it to 14; round 14.5 to 14.9 up to 15 instead.

Avoid the borderlines in the total marks of a paper. This can be done by adding 1 or 2 marks to reach to a grade. In such a case, an instructor is to make this adjustment in the cover page of the answer script too.
