Educational Assistance

IBC Temple administers the Educational Assistance offered by Klintiendharm Foundation to students studying at International Buddhist College. IBC Temple is also responsible for running the residential halls and facilities for male and female students and staff on the spirit of community life.

There are three types of Educational Assistances provided by the Foundation:

Metta Bursary
The Foundation offers Educational Assistance to two categories of the students:

    i. New students (B.A. and Postgraduate)
  • 90% of the total fees payable to deserving students as a form of financial assistance. A bursary student pays 10% of the remaining payable fees to the IBC Accounts Department.
  • ii. The existing B.A. and Postgraduate students (2nd year and above)

  • Applicants must provide transcript and academic results.
  • The G.P.A. computed determines the amount of Metta Bursary granted
  • Metta Bursary is granted for a maximum of one academic year. Application must be made every year if a student wishes to receive continual Educational Assistance through Metta Bursary for subsequent academic years. The Metta Bursary is open for application beginning 1st of March. The completed application form and supporting documents must be submitted before the specified closing deadline 31st of March. Results of application will be announced on 1st of June. Successful applicants will be given written notification. Applications are assessed based on student's overall cumulative average G.P.A. The G.P.A. computed determines the amount of Metta Bursary granted for each academic year.

  • Bursary Scale
    Applicable only to existing B.A. and postgraduate students (2nd year and above)

  • i) Postgraduate

  • A student who obtains 3.50 and above G.P.A. shall be granted 100% of the bursary.
  • A student who obtains 3.00 and above G.P.A. shall be granted 90% of the bursary.
  • A student who obtains 2.70 and above G.P.A. shall be granted 60% of the bursary.
  • ii) Undergraduate (B.A. Program)

  • A student who obtains 3.50 and above G.P.A. shall be granted 100% of the bursary.
  • A student who obtains 3.00 and above G.P.A. shall be granted 90% of the bursary.
  • A student who obtains 2.50 and above G.P.A. shall be granted 60% of the bursary.
  • A student who obtains 2.00 and above G.P.A. shall be granted 50% of the bursary.
  • The bursary scale is liable to revisions and the Foundation reserves the right, to increase or make modifications to the terms and conditions of the Metta Bursary without prior notice.

    Submission of Application Form:

    • i. An applicant has to submit an error free Bursary Application form prior to or by noon of the deadline specified (31st of March). Please download the form below (http://ibc.ac.th/en/Bursary)
    • ii. The Bursary Committee will review each application and the relevant supporting documents which include the student's application form, the autobiography, the recommendation letter by a temple abbot or equivalent. If the committee approves the application, the applicant will be notified in writing.
    • iii. Please attach together with the application form a recommendation letter written by either a temple abbot or equivalent together with a brief self-introduction and all certified true copies of relevant certificates and awards that you may have been granted.
    • iv. All bursary recipients will be asked to pay a caution fee (normally 20,000 Baht) to the Foundation. This caution fee will be refunded upon successful completion of one full academic year in the program of studies. If a student drops out of a course enrolled or fails in the examinations, the caution fee will not be refunded.
    • v. In place of the caution fee, an applicant may request a temple abbot or equivalent or a staff member of IBC and trusted by the Foundation to act as a Guarantor. In the event that the student should drop out of a course or fails in the examinations, the guarantor must pay the levied fine of equivalent amount to the caution fees (normally 20,000 Baht) to the Foundation.
    • vi. The Metta Bursary is granted for a maximum of one academic year. However, in the event if the bursary holder should show very poor conduct and academic performance, the bursary may be revoked and terminated after one semester upon decision deliberated by the Bursary committee.
