Buddhist Speaking Contest

The Buddhist Speaking Contest organized by the IBC Student Club was held on September 26, 2015. For a change, the event started with the Welcome Speech and a words of encouragement by Mr. Ben Goldstein, a native English Speaker from America and IBC student. There were sixteen speakers grouped into two groups. They spoke on various selected topic ranging from The Eightfold Path and Significance of Compassion to the Buddhist Solution to the Poverty. They were judged by the Three Outstanding Judges - Prof. Kapila, Prof. Tilak and Dr. Fa Qing on their Introduction of the Topic and Comprehension to the Conclusion. All the speakers gave their best and outstanding skill in speaking which they won the heart of all audience. Each speakers were given 10 minutes within which they spoke very comprehensively with supporting ideas and citations.

            The speaking contest came to and end with the final speaker bringing alarming issues with relevant evidences which have made the Judges and audiences awaken. Later on, the three Judges spoke and gave some valuable comments and suggestions to the speakers, and other lecturers also followed by giving words of encouragement and appreciation to all the speakers. Then the event unfold with excited moment with the declaration of the Outstanding Speakers. The three Judges have unanimously selected Three Top Earnest Speakers from each group. The Top Speakers were awarded Certificated with a Token Of Gifts and remaining speakers were also awarded a Appreciation Certificate. Present at the Speaking Contest were Profs. Lecturers. Staffs. Finally, the event came to an end with Vote of Thanks and Appreciations by the SC President Ven. Choten Dorji with the word- ‘This is a first of many such events to be held in IBC hereafter for the Good of the Many’
